Aluminum food-safe clear toy candy molds are authentic reproductions of original antique molds from the Thomas Mills firm of Philadelphia. Our molds are cast in small batches in Pennsylvania and hand-finished to achieve a level of quality comparable to the originals. A Pennsylvania-German tradition that dates to the 18th century, Clear Toys were gifted to children during Holiday seasons of Christmas and Easter.
Provenance: These molds are part of the Nancy Fasolt Collection of Lancaster, PA. In 2010, Mrs. Fasolt wrote the book Clear Toy Candy that remains the only published work on the subject. The Berley Brothers learned clear toy candy making from Nancy and are carrying the tradition of making these historic candies for generations to come at Shane Confectionery, America's Oldest Candy Shop since 1863.
